1. Introduction

AI Screenshot ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that allows users to capture selected areas of webpages and attach screenshots to existing ChatGPT or Claude conversations.

We respect user privacy and aim to process only the information necessary to provide the Extension's functionality.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the Extension processes, how it is used, where it is stored, and when it is shared.

2. Information We Process

The Extension processes the following information:

Website Content

  • Screenshots of webpage areas explicitly selected by the user.

  • Image data required to copy screenshots or attach them to an AI conversation.

Browsing-Related Information

  • Browser tab URLs and titles used to identify available ChatGPT or Claude conversations.

  • Selected destination-tab information required to deliver screenshots to the correct conversation.

Extension Settings and Operational Data

  • Extension enabled or disabled status.

  • Selected AI destination.

  • Capture-session information.

  • Screenshot queue metadata, delivery status, and recovery information.

Screenshot images may incidentally contain personal or sensitive information visible on the webpage. Users control which areas they capture and should avoid selecting information they do not intend to share.

3. How We Use Information

Information is processed only to provide the Extension's intended functionality, including:

  • Capturing user-selected areas of webpages.

  • Copying screenshots to the browser clipboard.

  • Attaching screenshots to a selected ChatGPT or Claude conversation.

  • Supporting continuous screenshot capture across permitted browser tabs.

  • Managing sequential screenshot delivery.

  • Recovering pending or interrupted screenshot operations.

  • Remembering extension preferences and selected destinations.

The Extension does not automatically send chat messages on behalf of the user.

4. Data Storage and Retention

The Extension uses browser-managed local storage, session storage, and IndexedDB to maintain preferences, capture sessions, and screenshot delivery queues.

Screenshots are processed within the browser and may be temporarily retained in IndexedDB for sequential delivery and recovery.

For successfully attached screenshots, the Extension's cleanup mechanism is designed to remove locally retained image data after approximately 10 minutes and associated completed-job metadata after approximately 24 hours.

Pending, failed, interrupted, or archived screenshots may remain stored for recovery until explicitly cleared or until the relevant browser extension data is removed.

These cleanup periods concern local extension storage only. They do not control how long screenshots remain available within ChatGPT or Claude.

5. Sharing Information with Third Parties

When a user chooses to attach a screenshot to ChatGPT or Claude, the Extension passes the selected image to that service through its web interface.

The receiving service processes the image according to its own terms and privacy policy.

The reviewed Extension does not include a separate developer-operated server for collecting screenshots or browsing information.

We do not sell user data or use captured information for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness assessment, or lending decisions.

6. Permissions

The Extension requests browser permissions necessary for its functionality.

  • activeTab: Access the active webpage for user-initiated screenshot capture.

  • scripting: Display and manage the screenshot selection interface.

  • storage: Store settings, selected destinations, and capture-session information.

  • clipboardWrite: Copy captured screenshots to the clipboard.

  • alarms: Support scheduled queue processing and recovery.

  • Host permissions: Interact with ChatGPT and Claude to attach screenshots to user-selected conversations.

  • Optional website permissions: Enable continuous screenshot capture across other webpages when permission is granted.

These permissions are used to support the Extension's screenshot capture and delivery functionality.

7. Data Security

The Extension uses Chrome browser APIs and browser-managed storage to process screenshot data.

Screenshots are transferred to the selected AI service only as part of the user-requested attachment workflow.

Users should not capture or share passwords, payment details, confidential documents, or other sensitive information unless they understand the implications of submitting that information to the selected AI service.

No software can guarantee absolute security.

8. User Control and Data Deletion

Users can:

  • Enable or disable the Extension.

  • Start or stop screenshot capture.

  • Choose an existing ChatGPT or Claude destination.

  • Review or export retained screenshots through supported recovery features.

  • Clear locally retained screenshot queue data using the Extension's available controls.

  • Remove the Extension and its local data through Chrome.

Clearing locally stored screenshots does not delete images already attached to an AI conversation. Users should manage those images through the relevant AI service.

9. Children's Privacy

AI Screenshot is a general-purpose productivity extension and is not specifically directed toward children.

The Extension does not intentionally request children's personal information for account registration, advertising, or profiling.

10. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the Extension's functionality, data practices, or applicable requirements.

The updated policy will be published at the same public URL with a revised effective date.
